Berger cultivates the seeds of innovation
so that you can reap the results.

Great ideas have stemmed from both Berger’s laboratories and our customers’ crops. Together, we have exchanged and changed methods, perfecting our growing mix composition and applying it to crops of all sorts. Our mutual ideas have made possible the growers that flourish today, so that your crops—and business—can thrive in today’s market.

Equipped with the most advanced technologies available, Berger laboratories embody the highest standards of research and development. Our multidisciplinary team of researchers in horticulture, chemistry, microbiology, biotechnology, and soil sciences lead the efforts to continuously improve our products, formulations, packaging, and processes.

We bet our bottom dollar on the quality of our research and analyses—and how ultimately our products can improve your overall profitability.

Analysis services

Berger’s laboratories have set the standard for versatile research and analysis services. We are widely known for quality work and reliable results. Our professional scientists conduct microbiological analyses, as well as analyses of water quality, nutritive solutions, substrate, leaf tissues, and the physical properties of substrates.

The scientific team at Berger is at your service to conduct
a wide range of laboratory testing:

Water analysis

Water analysis is the first step toward quality production. Any new source of water should be analyzed before use. Even your regular irrigation water should also be analyzed at least once a year.

Analysis of nutritive solutions

This analysis is recommended to verify the condition of fertilizer injectors and to detect the true composition of nutritive solutions.

Chemical analysis of substrate

An analysis of the substrate reveals a plant’s nutritional condition. This is vital information for horticultural production.

Tissue analysis

In conjunction with the analysis of a substrate, tissue analysis gives the complete details of a plant’s nutritional condition.

Physical analysis of substrate

The primary physical properties of any substrate are its porosity, water retention and air space, three determining factors in greenhouse and nursery production.

Microbiological analysis

If we suspect that a plant is diseased, microbiological analysis allows us to identify the microorganism involved. The results we obtain help us choose the most appropriate treatment.

The quest for making the production experience with growing media more successful is what drives Berger’s scientists and researchers every day. And generations of customers have been loyal to Berger’s growing mixes because of our focus on quality results.
