About Berger
Founded in 1963, Berger is a third-generation family business that specializes in peat and growing media. It provides the professional producers with the primary resource for growing fruits, vegetables, and other plants. With over 800 employees, Berger, a Canadian organization has developed a network that includes 12 harvesting sites and 8 production plants in North America. At Berger, social commitment and sustainable development are at the heart of everything we do.
This Oakbank production plant, which is in operations since August 2021, is the 9th Berger’s horticultural mixing facility, and fourth site in Manitoba. Ultimately, the year-round operations will employ more than 50 employees from a wide range of positions.

We are proud to contribute, day in day out, to the local economy by establishing long-term business partnerships with local suppliers in addition to the creation of 50+ new jobs in the Oakbank/Springfield area. Berger’s direct involvement with community since 2019 is just the beginning of a long-term dedication to contribute in the development of RM of Springfield’s vitality.
