For over 40 years, Green Valley Greenhouse has been dedicated to growth and innovation, becoming one of the leading growers in the Midwestern United States. Since 1977, they’ve built a thriving operation that now spans over 35 acres, including both indoor and outdoor operations. Based in Ramsey, Minnesota, Green Valley specializes in a wide variety of crops, including spring annuals, potted hydrangeas, mums, and poinsettias, supplying big-box retailers across the Upper Midwest, as well as selling directly to consumers through their own garden center.
Since 2016, Green Valley Greenhouse has been using Berger’s BM4 Natural Fiber – Wood HP mix, a change that has significantly improved both the efficiency and quality of their operations. Previously, their growing media dried out too quickly and lacked the structure needed for strong root development. “Now, every product is being grown using the BM4,” says head grower Andrew Butler. The versatility of this mix has enabled them to use it across all their crops, which includes a lot of large container production. Butler adds that the consistency Berger delivers has made all the difference: “We know exactly what to expect each season.” Along with its reliability, the switch to the BM4 Natural Fiber – Wood HP has provided better water retention and aeration, resulting in less frequent watering and improved root growth.
