Saint-Fabien, June 21, 2016 ─ On May 25, as part of the announcement of ROSEQ’s line-up for the season, Berger announced its partnership with Saint-Fabien’s Vieux Théâtre. The theatre’s stage has been named the “Scène Berger.”

By joining forces with the theatre, the company hopes to demonstrate its commitment to community cultural institutions. But this move is also a homecoming of sorts for Berger. “Saint-Fabien is our hometown,” explains Claudin Berger, co-chair of Berger’s board of directors. “Our grandfather started the family’s first peat moss business here, Tourbière Saint-Fabien. This is where our mother learned the trade before founding Berger Peat Moss.”

As Berger still operates a peatland in the Saint-Fabien area, the company feels that it is especially important to give back to this community, so partnering with the Vieux Théâtre was a natural step. “This is particularly meaningful for Claudin and myself, as we took part in year-end performances on this stage when we were young students,” adds Régis Berger, co-chair of the board.

The Vieux Théâtre is a unique gathering place for the residents of Saint-Fabien. Berger’s leaders believe that it is precisely this type of cultural organisation that helps communities remain vibrant and attractive to young families.
